  1. The East India Club
    St. James’s Square
    SW1

Absolutely the best roast dinner in London. Served tableside from a massive silver trolley. All the gravy you want!!! Fantastic roast potatoes and parsnips. You can even get an extra Yorkshire pud. Followed by magnificent British cheeses.

  2. The Talbot N1 is not on your lists that I can see? You need to be quick on this one though as the chef is moving on soon but best Yorkshire puds!

    1. Well it is on my list now – looks like a good tip, thanks. However – I do have 120+ other places on there 😉

    1. Good shout…I’ve been told multiple times this is a very good roast…I’ve finally added it to the to-do list.

  3. You should hold off on this one. I may visit next year and what better place to have a roast with a goofy American than at the pub one of his ancestors may have had their last proper pint in before heading to the new world. Granted we’ve screwed most everything up from that point forward, but still.

  4. Well I’d be honoured to go for a roast dinner with you…but which of the 75 places on the to-do list are you referring to?!

    1. Yeah that is quite an oversight, isn’t it? They used to be on my to-do list…not sure what happened! Have added again.

  5. You should try Maggie Jones’ off High Street Ken. Has roasts all week (mostly game) and classic roasts on weekends.

Bit old school though in that you only get yorkshire pud with the beef.

    1. Great suggestions – looks like my kind of place. Wonder how many mentions of another Maggie I’d manage in the same review though…eeeek.

  6. I strongly recommend Tapping The Admiral in Kentish Town. A great atmospheric backstreet boozer with amazing sunday roasts.

    1. That’s a good shout – I actually had one from there during the lockdown days when they were doing takeaways. Will add it to the list!

  7. Oh that’s exciting to hear…I might have to bump it up my priority list. Thanks for advising and keep roasting 🙂

  8. The Hare & Billet in Blackheath does a simply marvellous Sunday Roast. Lovely views over the Heath and a mere ten minute walk from Lewisham DLR, or a 15 minute walk from Cutty Sark DLR should you prefer a more picturesque pre-roast amble.

    1. Oooh and now I live in south London, its only an hour to get to, instead of an hour and twenty! I like the look of their gravy so it can go on the to-do list…thanks!

  9. The Prince up near Wood Green / Bounds Green (N22) apparently does a cracking roast – we’re trying it on Sunday!

  10. Might I suggest “The Open Page” in Earlsfield? After doing the rounds all over SW London trying to find a good roast, I found this place literally 2 mins from my front door and it instantly became my go-to by a long, long way. Their sticky toffee pudding is awesome too.

  11. Just been to the Parakeet in Kentish Town, roast beef was on point. Recommend adding to the to-do list Lord Gravy!

    1. Well, you may suggest it and it looks like a proper pub…but the only image of the roast on Google Maps looks rather scary!

  12. Please review the Chequers in Walthamstow, my personal fave is the beef – must have the Cauliflower Cheese.
I await with roast bated breath.

    1. Gosh if only everyone on the tube had roast bated breath…the dreams. Consider it on my to-do list, I do like a visit or three to Walthamstow.

    1. 1 hour and 40 minutes away from where I live…I’m going to need some evidence that I should add this to my to-do list!

  13. Please can you review the hangover bowl roast at Lagom! Also as a Northerner who has recently moved here I am severely disappointed by how expensive roast are in London. Do you have any cheap recommendations near Bermondsey ?

    1. Hello fellow northerner and welcome to the world of £30 roast dinners 🙂

I did a guide on affordable (but good) roasts a couple of years ago, it should still be valid – https://rdldn.co.uk/affordable-roast-dinners-in-london-2023/. The Gladstone Arms would be your closest – though it’s Indian flavoured, so not exactly traditional.

I went to Lagom, yikes, pre-pandemic, and found it excessively salty – https://rdldn.co.uk/eat-lagom-hackney-church-brew-co-hackney/. Didn’t know they were doing roasts again. I know their meat is gorgeous so I wouldn’t want to put you off going…my review is from 6 years ago! If you do go, let me know what you think please 😉
